About
Hello, I’m Jacinta Aquilina and this is my website to show you what I’ve been making recently, and to offer you a piece of my creations for your own home or as a gift for someone you love.
I started and have spent most of this life in the Blue Mountains, NSW as well as living almost ten years in the Huon Valley, TAS in my 20s, before landing somehow in South Australia on the cusp of completing 40 years on earth. South Australia, in a quiet coastal town where my senses were exploding with the vividity of the colours and vastness of the landscape. I felt so far from home and curious about how I could ever adjust, I kept walking. Daily walking; morning, afternoon & night.. sunrise, sunset, moonrise, high tide; walking and watching as I absorbed this land through my senses until I fell in love with the colours and textures of this place. The Fleurieu Peninsula, where the hills slowly turn green into winter, after being almost grey gold from the scorching late summer draught. The wildflowers in Spring when the hills burst with yellow and purple and white freesias the scent of honey blossom fairy perfume. The colours of vibrant turquoise and bright gold in summer, oranges and pinks and purples of sunsets in Autumn.. unbelievably magical colours of the rainbow after coming from two other landscapes of pure green and blue.
This series of paintings and clay things is a visual journey of finding my way to get a sense of this place, while finding my creative flow again after burnout.
